|Be sure to check out Terry Hazlett's Vinyl Countdown at it's new time; Noon - 12pm.|
This Sunday on WJPA's Vinyl Countdown, it's back to January 20, 1964 when more than a third of the songs in the top 40 were by female artists, including a girl group from Hanover, Pennsylvania and a female solo artist from Pittsburgh.
And, although the British invasion was well underway, a former trumpeter with the Tommy Dorsey orchestra was heading into the top 40 with a solo instrumental.
And, for the only time in pop history, Washington County natives had two of the top 10 songs in the country. You'll hear those hits, and all of the big hits of January 20, 1964 this Sunday at noon on WJPA.
The Vinyl Countdown is brought to you by Guitar Gallery, Monongahela Valley Hospital and Slovenian Savings and Loan.
